Reflection

My overall reflection on the module was that there were many things that I was able to learn and experience. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent completing the module. Some of the pros of completing this module: I got to interact with a lot of people and was truly amazed by the creativity of some of the teams that had come up with unique game designs, none of which I found a team to be having the same kind of game design or ideas they were inspired to create such designs. For an introvert like me interaction between people was the main concern and talking to some of them, they genuinely were very opening and talked with me as if I was a childhood friend.  There were a lot of things that I learnt and tried to implement them in my designs such a level design, narrative design and brainstorming ideas. Update - 3rd December 2022 We were given the final assignment which is basically our final project for the Game Design Module and the theme for the assignment was Impulse . When I first got to know the theme of the game I was pretty excited, and the very first thing that came to my mind was impusle based descision and the first game that came to my mind was, Its a multiplayer puzzle game,  The game requires players to work together to defuse a virtual bomb. One player is tasked with defusing the bomb while the other players have access to a manual that describes how to defuse the bomb. The player defusing the bomb must communicate with the other players and follow their instructions in order to succeed. Digital Prototype of Simple Game

Update - 9th November 2022 Our group was given our first assignment, which was to create a simple digital game prototype. The theme for the game was Personal hygiene . We had a group meeting to talk about the ideas of what type of game should we design. Some of the ideas which were discussed were  Creating a learning game which focuses on basic hygiene such as brushing teeth, washing your hands. Create an open world game, where the player travels around the map defeating monsters which were based on the diseases and viruses usually affecting one's personal hygiene. The core mechanic for the game was that the character was in third person collecting collectibles or power ups lying around in the map which would help them defeat specific monsters.  For example: If the player sees a bacteria, the player can walk to the can of disinfectant collectible pick it up and start sparying at the bacteria in order to defeat it. Narratology is the study of narrative structure and the ways in which stories are told. It seeks to understand how stories are constructed and communicated, and how they impact their audience. Narratology is interdisciplinary, drawing from fields such as literature, film studies, sociology, psychology, and media studies . Narratology is concerned with various aspects of storytelling, including plot, character, setting, theme, and genre. It also explores the techniques and conventions used by storytellers, such as point of view, voice, and pacing. They help make the game fair and fun for everyone. For example, in a racing game, the game mechanics might tell you how to steer your car, how fast you can go, and what you have to do to cross the finish line first. My childhood leisure time was spent on the computer playing Flash games. It was easy for me to access these games using my online browser, and they were well-liked since they were straightforward and addictive. I enjoyed browsing various websites to discover new games to play, and I had a few go-to sites that I frequently visited. My childhood was largely spent playing Flash games, which gave me great delight and entertainment. There are now, however, games that are entirely focused on teaching children. These games can cover a wide range of topics, from basic academic subjects such as math and language, to more complex skills such as critical thinking and problem-solving.
